Laura Peters Professional Bio

Laura Peters has over 17 years of experience as a technology-focused professional. After receiving her Bachelor’s degree from Indiana University from the Individualized Major Program, she began an internship with Yamaha Corporation of America in Indianapolis, Indiana. This led her to start her career with Bands of America (now Music for All), a 501(c)(3) non-profit music organization with events held across the United States.

Laura relocated to Chicago, Illinois where she joined the technology team at Tribune as a Java Software Engineer. This enterprise-level Agile environment allowed for exposure to projects for the Chicago Tribune, Los Angeles Times, and WGN America. She made a career transition to the Tribune UX team as a UX Developer charged with increasing the communication efficiency between design and engineering. While on this team, she led the project to design and build Tribune Company’s corporate website prior to its IPO as Tribune Publishing (TPUB).

In response to a growing need for high-quality design, development, and marketing technology for startups and small businesses, Laura launched her company Funnychord in 2012. Funnychord as a concept was imagined in 1998, established as a domain in 2001, and today serves customers with a variety of product strategy and digital experience needs.

Laura joined OptionsHouse in 2015 as a Senior Web Developer/Designer and was quickly promoted to Creative Lead as part of the marketing department. In 2016 when fintech startup Investitute (now Market Rebellion) was searching for a technology consultant, Laura was highly recommended by an OptionsHouse colleague.

After leading startup technology, product, and market operations for Market Rebellion from 2016 to 2022, Laura joined the team at GoPro as a Senior Product Manager focused on Subscription Growth. Though her time with the team was short for personal family reasons, she appreciated the opportunity to share best practices for establishing a cross-functional growth team.

Laura is currently Head of Product & Experience for Funnychord, serving clients across multiple industries and stages of growth. She looks forward to finding and contributing to fantastic businesses in the near future.
